Abstract

Potters Wheel Cup

Birdhouse

I used different slabs to create the structure of the birdhouse.  To make the designs on each side I used a needle tool to etch out the design from the clay.  To attach the peg on the front I used the slip and score method.  I had to go over the lines many times in order to keep small pieces of clay from sticking in the lines.  I decided to use two different glazes to make the piece more interesting.  I chose a light blue for the bottom and freckled brown for the roof and peg.  I chose the special glaze to make the roof seem to have a texture and attract attention.

Flower Petal Vase

This piece is made from  cone 5 porcelain clay.  I used the coil method to create the bottom part of the vase, and then smoothed the surface of the coils. I used the pinch method to make the flower petals.  I attached each petal separately.  After the vase was bisque fired I used sandpaper to make the bottom even more smooth.  I used several coats of light green glaze.
