Linoleum Print

Linoleum Print
I carved this print using a sketch I drew then transferred to the linoleum block.  I used black ink to transfer the print to paper.  I put the print on handmade paper that I made.

Railroad Pencil Drawing

Railroad Pencil Drawing
I used pencil for this drawing.  I worked off a picture of the railroad tracks in Smith Center.  The goal of this drawing was to work on perspective.

Self Portrait Drawing

Self Portrait Drawing
I used pencil for this drawing.  I worked from a picture rather than a mirror.

Abstract Painting

Abstract Painting
I used tempera paint for this painting.  I started with the color red and used different colors without washing out my brush to get the various colors.

Cat Eye Chalk Drawing

Cat Eye Chalk Drawing
First, I drew the placement of the eye and nose.  Then I used the chalk to blend the yellows and greens and browns to make the eye color.  I used all black chalk with white chalk on top to get the whiskers and fur.

Abstract

Potters Wheel Cup

Birdhouse

I used different slabs to create the structure of the birdhouse.  To make the designs on each side I used a needle tool to etch out the design from the clay.  To attach the peg on the front I used the slip and score method.  I had to go over the lines many times in order to keep small pieces of clay from sticking in the lines.  I decided to use two different glazes to make the piece more interesting.  I chose a light blue for the bottom and freckled brown for the roof and peg.  I chose the special glaze to make the roof seem to have a texture and attract attention.

Flower Petal Vase

This piece is made from  cone 5 porcelain clay.  I used the coil method to create the bottom part of the vase, and then smoothed the surface of the coils. I used the pinch method to make the flower petals.  I attached each petal separately.  After the vase was bisque fired I used sandpaper to make the bottom even more smooth.  I used several coats of light green glaze.
